Relocating to Hoboken? You’ll be in for some fantastic nightlife, that’s a given! However, there’s so much more to enjoy that’s packed into our wonderful mile square city.
Make some time to visit the city and you won’t want to leave. Your first stop should be the Hoboken Historical Museum to learn about Hoboken‘s rich history. Make sure to pick up some brochures describing local events along with maps of the historic sites and points of interest to create your own walking tour.
Bring your camera along to snap some photos of Manhattan from the Hudson River Waterfront walkway, where you can also bike or jog. If Frank Sinatra is one of your favorites, visit the site of his birthplace, the location of which is now marked by a brick arch and bronze star in the sidewalk at 415 Monroe Street.
Enjoy the delicious international cuisine that can be found throughout the city in the many world-class restaurants, and sample the scrumptious deserts at Carlo’s Bake Shop, which was seen on the TLC show Cake Boss as well as the Next Great Baker.
Pick up the makings of a great picnic lunch from one of the wonderful delis and bakeries you’ll find all over the city and enjoy some down time at Pier A Park, which is known for being one of the nation’s top 10 urban parks. Or stop by one of the Farmer’s Markets at Washington and Newark on Tuesdays or 13th & Hudson on Thursdays and pack your own.
To get a real feel for Hoboken, enjoy some time at some of the other parks on your trip: Church Square Park, Columbus Park, Elysian Park, Stevens Park, Frank Sinatra Park, or Maxwell Place Park. If you’re a water sports enthusiast, kayak for free in the Hudson River which will give you a totally different view of Hoboken from the water.

Check your map for Castle Point Lookout on the Stevens campus, which is the highest point in Hoboken. The stunning view of Hoboken and the Manhattan skyline from here is not to be missed.
The Hoboken Studio Tour, the Fall and Spring Arts & Music Festival, and the Hoboken (Secret) Garden Tour are all must-do events if you happen to be in the area at the right time.
Of course you’ll want to see a show at Maxell’s, which is an alternative live music venue that is proud to have hosted some very famous bands such as R.E.M., Nirvana, the Smashing Pumpkins, and the Offspring. Be certain to watch a production at the Mile Square Theatre, or some live music, theater and film screenings at the Monroe Center for the Arts, if the Hoboken art scene is more to your liking.
If you love architectural masterpieces and grand vaulted ceilings, make sure to see the Main Waiting Room at Hoboken Terminal, which was originally built in 1907. The 2,000 square foot stained glass Tiffany skylight is considered one of the finest Tiffany creations in the country. Save some time to visit the unique shops all over the city. If you are in the mood for a good movie–the Clearview Cinema’s new state-of-the-art theater is the place to go, but during the summer Movies Under the Stars is held on Pier A, every Wednesday at 9pm.
